Born Michael Ciaran Parker on the 4th of May 1952 in Bermondsey, South London. Michael's mother, Margaret Parker, was an entertainer herself.  His father apparently left home when Michael was just nine years old.

The young Michael Parker began a career in hairdressing, a potentially lucrative career it would seem with a celebrity client list.  Michael's personality must have made him ideally suited to his job as a redcoat before it enabled him to find work for a while as a warm-up man in television studios, Are You Being Served? being one of the shows he helped along.  As Michael Barrymore he was a winner on the talent show New Faces. The rest, as they say, is history -

It's not just television - Michael has always been a brilliant live performer.

Here's Michael in an early stage appearance.
