The National Television Awards

10th October 2000

Michael was nominated for three awards this year, the sixth year in row he has been nominated. The ceremony was broadcast live, so the newspaper coverage the following day tended to concentrate on Judy Finnigan who will, no doubt, be looking to get a refund on that frock! To redress (no pun) the balance, here are some shots of Michael at the awards.
Michael's first nomination was for Best Comedy Performer. His performance in 'Bob Martin' made him a popular choice.
Sure enough, Michael leaves his seat to collect the award.
Michael receives his award from John Thompson.
With this award, Michael makes it six in a row. Michael has won at least one award every year since the National Television Awards began. This is his eighth NTV award.
The very next category was to decide Most Popular Entertainment Presenter. Michael was nominated again, this time for 'Kids Say The Funniest Things'.
Michael had barely taken his seat when he was up again to collect his second award of the night.
The Olympic swimmer, Eric 'the Eel' presents Michael with the award.
NTV award number nine! Michael must have a cabinet at home just for these trophies, let alone the many other awards he has won.

Michael's third nomination was for Most Popular Entertainment Programme. In the event the award went to Stars in their Eyes. Still two out of three ain't bad!
