My Kind of Music

In the newest series of this show the prize money has been increased, the jackpot now stands at £16,000 - up from the slightly strange £13,000 in the previous series. One half of each couple also gets to sing on prime-time TV. I couldn't begin to put a price on that.

The game itself is played over several stages; each one adding more cash to the players total prize.

First things first, Michael gets to know the audience...
After each singer, the other two teams answer a question based on what they have just heard. £50 goes to the first to answer correctly. Then more questions, for everyone this time, again at £50 a time.
Pop Props. Michael demonstrates the name of a band, using an array of props. With £100 for each one, successful contestants start to rack up a tidy sum of money at this point...
Who's this, then?
Contestants then answer more questions, for £100 each, based on My Kind of People. I have lot's more pictures like this, so I have put them on a separate page - Click here to see them.
For the part of the show they call 'sing the song' the contestants have to identify bands or singers from their partner singing a song by that band or singer. It's not easy, by the look of it, but is rewarded with £150 for each one correct.
At this point, the couple with the least amount of money drop out. The remaining two couples then have to identify six songs and bands from their chosen year. £100 for each correct answer means that £1200 can be won here.
Finally, whoever has most money after the Mega-mix plays for the jackpot. All they have to do (!) is name each member of a pretend musical family in 60 seconds. £1000 for the first member, £2000 for the second, £3000 for the third and £10,000 for the fourth. It is often very difficult to do, but the contestants that reach this stage do have a lot of knowledge about pop music and the prize is often won with just a few seconds to spare.
